Pixie's Project Organisation, helping people in england to understand Anorexia and other mentall illness

Pixie's Project

Educating about Anorexia.

About Pixie's Project.

Pixie's Project Is a company originally formed Within 'Leicester Theatre Group' And 'The Naked' In which a contemporary dance piece that incorporated speech and other elements portrayed my personal journey with Anorexia Nervosa. The story behind the project came from my past experience with the illness and the journey I have been on to recovery . I want to answer the questions people have on Eating Disorders and Mental Health, a topic which is often a Taboo. I want to help those in early stages of the illness as I believe strongly, that early intervention is key.
I strongly believe this is a key element in the decrease of the Eating Disorder epidemic. My motto is and always will be ' Never be afraid to ask.' curiosity educates and education removes the stigma behind the illness.
Anorexia took my life, it tried to take my soul and my body and it tried to kill me. The idea is to understand that Anorexia and other types of mental illness do not have to be visible. We are often told; Taught by the media that to be Anorexic we must look a certain way.
A reality I faced whilst trying to speak out about my disorder, the articles released were published on the condition that people could visually 'see how bad it was' which is ridiculous because that only fuels the idea that you have to be dying for help and you have to look like your disorder.... This is a myth. Every Disorder is valid.

The general concept of this organisation is the ability to ask someone who has experienced a severe eating disorder and other mental health issues, to come in and talk to year groups in age appropriate ways. I provide two plans for each year and can customise the slides and talk as you see appropriate. Pixie's Project is a NON-PROFIT organisation. I expect no money for my services, I accept donations, but really this is about helping those who need it most and educating the next generation on what Anorexia really is. As well as schools, I am open to private contact for those of you who are struggling and require some help: whether that be support in recovery, support in understanding your disorder or advice. I urge you to reach out if you are suffering, not neccesarily to me but to someone.
You can find some resources I have used whether they have succeeded or not in my journey to recovery. View them with an open mind.
Stay Strong because recovery is possible.
